Linked In is getting more and more popular among the moving and handling fraternity. We now have a National Back Exchange group. Other groups include Moving and Handling People UK, Medcare Products, Paediatric Manual Handling Specialists, Safe Patient Handling, Yorkshire manual handling and Kate Lovett of Edge Services has just launched The Art of Moving & Handling People (UK). It is a cracking title but I’m sorry Kate I am claiming the title for myself. I have used this phrase in my October 26 2008 story regarding the Florida conference and also the March
9th 2009 story about the authors of HOP5. However, Kate, I bow to your knowledge and expertise and hand over the phrase to yourself as I know you will make good use of it.
I have 696 connections on LinkedIn at the time of writing but am being reeled in by a number of others in the field of moving and handling. Most notably Steve Clark of Spectrum Healthcare and Hospital Aids. He has just joined the 500+ club.
I have 19 recommendations but I am sure some of you wouldn’t mind giving me an extra one
on the strength of this newsletter. Steve on the other hand only has one recommendation. I don’t think this is fair because all of you who know Steve know that he is a very pleasant chap who doesn’t promote business at the expense of humanity. Unlike myself, he will not directly ask you for a recommendation but, and he has not asked me to write this piece on his behalf, if you have ever done business with him, or even had a presentation from him at one of the local NBE meetings, then why not send him a recommendation on LinkedIn. You know he deserves it.
This story was not meant to be a “give Steve a leg up campaign” but it has turned out that way. So I am not going to use his picture to the left because he is too ugly. Kate has a better face to look at.
