While on the subject of firefighters I thought you might like to see this little toy that is making waves in the USA but is available elsewhere. If you are involved in training firefighters you need to know about this. It is the worlds only portable motorised hose reel winder.
A typical fire hose is a very heavy thing. 100 feet of 6” hose weighs about 11 stones (150Lbs). To roll a hose, it needs to be kept neat and involves a lot of stooping and pushing at low levels. When are the firefighters having to do this? After a heavy exercise or after a major blaze when they are already fatigued and more prone to injury.
