Ergonomics today have reported an interesting situation regarding Arnold Swarzenegger . Maybe, Arnie doesn’t realise the difficulty involved in lifting people. For the 5th time in as many years, he has vetoed a bill for safe patient handling in California.

Labelled as the Hospital Patient and Health Care Worker Injury Protection Act, the muscle bound actor turned politician, feels that it is unnecessary as existing laws already cover the rights of health care workers. However, WING (Work Injured Nurses’ Group) say that injuries from placing such hazardous loads on the backs of nursing staff cannot rightfully be called ‘accidents’ (which is covered by existing law) but are the predictable outcome of lifting dangerous amounts of weight in awkward postures. Patients are also at risk say WING.

Its okay for him with his big muscles but most nursing staff aren’t quite as big as him.
