I have a stock of the Assisting People DVD available. It seems a shame that they are just sat on my shelf when they could be sat on yours. This 100 minute programme was designed, filmed and edited by myself. It is usually for sale for £100 but to get them off my shelf, I am offering them for just £15 including postage and packing.
As a further incentive, I am also offering the “Understanding REBA” online course free of charge (usually £25) to anyone who buys the DVD. That is £125 for just £15.
The DVD starts with an explanation of REBA (the online course is much better than the DVD explanation. I suggest you do the online course and skip this chapter). It also has a series of mini lectures containing two-minute explanations of legislation, risk assessment, anatomy & physiology etc., as well as the expected suggestions as to how to move people in a variety of common situations.
Each of the moves demonstrated is labled with the REBA score as performed by the person in the video.
REBA (Rapid Entire Body Assessment) for those of you who don’t know, is a postural analysis tool designed to assess the risk to the handler and is used extensively in the Guide to the Handling of People - 5th edition, which in the UK is often used as a bench mark for good practice.
Why should you get this DVD? Well the price for one, but also it is another tool in your toolbox. Furthermore, on a self pitying note, I have done this newsletter every month free of charge for almost three years now and it would be a demonstration of your appreciation.
I am offering these on a first come first served basis and will remove the payment link when they are all gone, so if it is still there, then stock is still available.
Incidentally, the REBA course can be used by any who purchase it in their own teaching of risk assessment, as often as they like, without any further charge. Another good reason to take me up on this offer.

Assisting People 2006 DVD was designed, filmed & edited by myself. The online REBA course was also designed by myself.
The credit for the concept of REBA must go to Hignet & McAtmney from Loughborough University.
