The Manchester NHS web site reported that physiotherapists from Manchester visited a school in Chorley to give back care advice. Throughout the day, the kids had their bags weighed and matters pertaining to posture and bag design were discussed.

Sharon Scott of the Children and Young Peoples' Physiotherapy Service from NHS Manchester will be leading the day as part of Back Awareness Week, however, Sharon and her team have been targeting schools in the area for the past three years.

Sharon said: “Nearly half of all school children suffer back problems at some point during their school life. Even worse, almost 10% of children – more than two children in every class - suffer chronic or recurrent back pain which can affect their school attendance, concentration, participation in sport and leisure activities and their general quality of life.
