Question: How many people does it take to load a patient into an ambulance?

Answer: 15

That’s how many it took to load a 50+ stone person into a special bariatric ambulance in the USA. Wichita city requested the help from Arkansas city to move the patient who had been bed bound for three years. The ambulance has ramps and a winch to make loading and unloading of the extra wide cot that much easier. It costs almost $200,000 which is $50,000 more than the usual style of ambulance used, however, Arkansas city fire chief, Randy Leach (no comments please) said that he believes $50,000 has already been saved in compensation pay-outs because of having the equipment.

Prior to having this ambulance, 10-12 individuals would slide the patient onto the floor of the vehicle, and, without any restraint transfer them to hospital in that way.

25.8% of  adults in Kansas are obese which makes it the 23rd most obese state in the USA. First place, or last depending upon your point of view, is Mississippi with 31.7%.
