A 106 page report by Loughborough University and funded by the HSE into the handling of barriatric patients and the readiness of trusts to deal with them.
It was discovered that about half of trusts did not have a policy for dealing with this ever growing (no pun intended) client group. The document discusses risk assessment, planning, inter-agency interactions, pain management, dignity and comfort etc.
It’s a big read, but essential if you are putting together a barriatric policy.
