The Mermaid, Dipper and Ranger range of bath hoists as supplied by Joerns Healthcare (part of sunrise medical) has been condemned by the MHRA until Joerns Healthcare can resolve a safety issue.

There appears to be two problems. One, the seat unit does not fit securely and two, there is no restraining device. Reports have been filed regarding people falling from the hoists.

Joerns first highlighted the problem in August but the restraining device proved to be inadequate, hence the MHRA have told everyone to remove the product until they can be made safe by Joerns.
