The UK governments anti-obesity campaign change4Life, is too simlistic and funded by the wrong people according to the Lancet.

Companies such as Pepsi have made adverts to show that it is okay to drink sugary drinks so long as you take plenty of exercise. This message, as can be seen from the Exercise won’t cure obesity story, gives the wrong impression that exercise and diet are of equal importance in the fight against obesity.

The real problem lies in that the so-called junk food companies who are funding a large part of the campaign, will not want to admit the damage theirs goods can cause, but rather, they will “spin” to make it appear that their products contribute to a healthy lifestyle. As the Lancet said, this “beggars belief”.
