It might be a bit old now (2005) but never the less it is good to see examples of success and I have just come across it on the Dept. Of Work and Pensions web site. When three trusts merged, the University Hospital Leicester was faced with a problem of how to integrate three different approaches to
University Hospital Leicester
manual handling. The subsequent revision and restructuring led to a great success story of 31% reduction in reported manual handling incidents among the 11,500 employees.
The seven strong team have managed to purchase over £900,000 worth of equipment including electric profiling beds, patient chairs, trolleys, examination couches and pressure relieving systems for safe practice in all areas of operation. One of the best pieces of news is that over a three year period, manual handling was rated first in the
trusts induction programme.
