High quality equipment and support is a key part of Intensive Care. The package of equipment and support service offered by ERGOS is second to none.

The ERGOS slings we use are manufactured for by Silvalea one of the UK’s leading sling manufacturers. This includes the sit slings, supine slings and mortuary slings. The spreader bars used for each type of sling are different and ERGOS have the capacity to vary and alter equipment such as slings and spreader bars to suit any individual patient need.

ERGOS is a fully automated remote controlled patient lifting system. It’s functionality has been designed to meet the demanding standards of Glasgow Royal Infirmary and other hospitals. It completely removes manual handling from patient movement. It will lift, rotate and position patients through fingertip control. It will carry patients across short distances when required and provides a smooth virtually silent and effort free method of moving patients. Feedback on its use in wards and for physical rehabilitation has been extremely positive.

ERGOS is MHRA class 1 registered and is fully CE compliant. In addition the standards applicable in all hospitals across the UK have been researched and complied with.

ERGOS will move patients from a stationary position using the extension, rotation and elevation functions individually or simultaneously. This functionality makes its positioning of patients extremely precise. Designed to access through small hospital doors and between beds ERGOS can be positioned immediately adjacent to a bed or trolley without any encumbrance from legs extending beyond the lift area. The method of lifting means a patient is centred to the lifting point automatically so there is no swinging or disturbing movements. With a sit sling the patient will be rotated automatically to a comfortable position without the need for further adjustment.

Variable speed of movement in all functions is available on ERGOS. The proprietary motor controller systems have a soft start and stop function providing smooth comfortable and relaxed movement for the patient. Finger controls allows staff to be in close proximity to the patient at all times providing a confident and secure transfer for both staff and patient.

2 speed settings are provided on ERGOS a “between ward” speed and a “within ward” speed. Each of these are adjustable and variable by use of the drive controls on the handset. This allows ERGOS to be used in a fully flexible way either to move patients using turret function only or to transport patients over short distances using the drive function. The extremely controllable movement allows ERGOS to be used for simple repositioning movements or for full transfers to chair, trolley or commode.

Independent design checks for safety legislation compliance have been carried on ERGOS providing confirmation that all aspects of function are compliant with the applicable safety standards including MRSA wipe down and disinfection procedures. The SWL is 250Kg.
