As practical skills cannot be done on-line, of what value is refresher training on-line?

I agree that practical skills cannot be assessed on-line, that is why you cannot do your original instructors course on-line. However, unless you are teaching a different client group, the practical aspect of your work has probably changed very little in the last few years. Therefore, you may feel that every second or even third year will likely be enough to keep your practical skills in check. Furthermore, online training demands active learning rather than passive learning. One of the questions on the feedback form at the end is “do you feel that this style of learning made you ‘think’ more than a classroom setting?” The overwhelming response to this is a resounding yes. It will also test your knowledge and ability to research the various subjects covered. In turn, this skill will assist you in researching a whole host of variables that come into play with the moving and handling of people from whichever client group they originate from. It will help you to look at a problem and say, "How can I solve that?"

How can I prove that I was successful and how do I get my certificate?

The moment you complete the course I (and/or your appointed tutor) automatically receive notification of this via e-mail. Your certificate will be  e-mailed to you and your unique certificate number logged (incase you need a duplicate) once the course has been completed. You can then print it out with your printer on its’ best settings. If you don’t have a printer, one can sent to you through the post for a £10 charge (so get your mates to do it for you).

If I fail will I get a chance to sit again?

On each of the six sections you are given 3 chances to pass. If you fail, this doesn’t mean you have failed the course. The purpose for this is to alert me (and/or your appointed tutor) so that we can see that you are having difficulty. We will then be able to log on to the system and see where you are going wrong for the purpose of offering you advice. The system can then be reset, giving you another 3 attempts. This should happen with 48 hours of you receiving a failure notice. If not, please get in touch and ask for assistance.

If I fall ill during the course can I suspend it until I am well again?

Yes.

What if my certificate is destroyed somehow?

We have a database of certifications. We would be happy to supply duplicates.
