How long should moving and handling training be?

I don’t know how many times I have been asked this question but I wish I had £1 each ti... Anyway, the reason most people ask me the question is so that they can go back to someone else and say, “See!!! I told you I need more time.” Invariably, most instructors feel that they don’t have enough time. If you are one of the fortunate ones you will have a couple of days. Some people are lucky enough to get one day but it seems that most have to struggle by with 3 hours or even less.

Another issue is that because the theory has to be crammed in, the individuals who need more time to absorb the info cannot before you have to move onto the next point. The time constraint means that you cannot teach them anything new so each year you have to cover the basics only. The result is that because the instructor is rushed, the class feel that the whole thing is pointless.

Regardless of how much time you have been allocated, if the class could complete online training prior to attending the classroom session, the classroom could be freed up to concentrate on either more practical time, one to one sessions or specific localised theory sessions.

Because I am hosting it myself now, I have been able to reduce the cost per person to just £8.
