The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) have issued a warning about the Kid Active folding wheelchairs, saying that they have received a number of reports about its forward stability. These devices are manufactured by Lomax Mobility Ltd, which is now part of Sunrise Medical.

The MHRA are advising that anyone who uses this product with the codes K8S or K9S, should be assessed for their forward stability. Individuals who lean or or sit forwards should be re-assessed for a different device. The short wheelbase on this equipment makes it vulnerable to forward tipping and a small number of people have received minor injuries as a result.

This notice is relating to the wheelchair with the fold away footrests rather than the one with the outrigged castors.

The wheelchair is no longer in production, but there are still many out there.

A Kid Active wheelchair though we are not familiar with this particular product, it looks like this is the one with the outrigged castors.
