Injury hotspots is another WorkSafe initiative from Australia. The link below will take you to a page which captures a variety of industries and occupations, including ambulance, health, childrens services and fire services. You can then select your choice.
Lets take the “Health & Aged care” option. When you click it you are presented with a flash animation of a person with % statistics pointing at various parts of his anatomy. The percentages refer to the most common areas of the body which are injured in that sector. In this example the man has a big red “32” pointing at his back. He also has a “4” pointing to his biceps. If though, we click the “15” pointing to his shoulder, we are told briefly of the type of injury which occurs. We are also asked if we are lifting or assisting clients, or are we pushing wheelchairs and trolleys.
Selecting the option you want you are then briefly told how best to avoid injuries as well as given web sites for further information.
Not only Australians will find this information useful.
