If you are interested in Mountain Rescue, Military evacuations or you belong to a rural EMS department, you may be interested in this research carried out by Sue Hignet, Joseph Wayne Willmott and Stacy Clemes. It is looking at postural analysis as well as perceived exertion when using four different kinds of stretchers.

The article was published in a pay-per-view web site and magazine entitled Work: A Journal of Prevention, Assessment and Rehabilitation. I haven’t read it myself but the extract appears to suggest a good all round 5 week study came to no clear winner. Each of the four having their pro’s and con’s. The $27.50 price tag for the article might be worth it if you are considering new equipment for your department.
