Moving & Handling will improve in Eire thanks to new nursing home care standards. A team of 50 inspectors will ensure that the 32 standards are put into action.

Nursing homes, many of which are over 100 years old, have 6 years in which to fully implement the standards of care. Some though will require immediate implementation, including safer patient handling principles.

A “fair deal” system is being implemented to pay for nursing home care. Residents are charged 80% of their disposable income and up to 15% of the value of their home and assets after death.
