Over the last few months, online training has proven to be a boon for recession hit organisations who want to keep up their training commitments but at the same time save money.
Ambition 24 Hours has also seen another benefit. That of standardisation. With trainers who work the length and breadth of the UK from over 20 locations it is essential to ensure they are all singing from the same hymn sheet as it were. Obviously, each will have their strengths and their weaknesses. The result was a lack of consistency across the board. While so far this hasn’t lead to any “major” incidents, the potential is real enough in itself. It also makes investigations that much more difficult.
By choosing to do the theory content online for both the moving and handling as well as the CPR, this frees the instructors up to concentrate on the practical element. Of which they follow a standardised lesson plan.
Students feedback invariably states that they learn much more than in a classroom setting, as they can review the material they are not sure about without having to hold up proceedings by asking a tutor for clarification.
In order for the students to participate in the classroom stage they must first pass the online content with 100% accuracy. The theory component generally takes a novice about 2-3 hours to complete. However, they also have 14 days from enrolment. Nor are they restricted to the computer they first register with. This means they may start it during a quiet time at work, then finish it in the comfort of their own home.
All students have access to a tutor via e-mail if they don’t understand a particular point, this as well as the reply is forwarded on to the branch trainer prior to their classroom course.
2 video clips are available in M&H TV (channels 9 & 10) which form part of the CPR course.
