The shop is a continually developing area. I have quite a good selection of books for sales but the shop is developing all of the time. Regarding moving and handling, I have 29 books which you may be interested in. However, there are a total of 196 books in my shop at the time of writing but this is bound to be increased by the time you read this. There are sections for books on OT, nursing and physiotherapy.

During the last week I have sold £123 worth of stock from this page.

I have some favourites which I have picked out and placed on the carousel to the left. Using the buttons at the bottom, you can rotate the carousel and view the publications. You can order the new Moving and Handling Illustrated Guide from Clinical Skills written by Sue Ruzalla, Mike Fray & Pat Alexander directly from the shop. If you saw last months newsletter you will know how

impressed I am with this particular publication. I stand by statement, that every nursing home and nurses station should have one of these at hand at all times. Then if there is a problem, staff can be easily referred to it. It gives in clear concise direction, backed up in pictorial form exactly how certain procedures are carried out. I know it is not easy to be so prescriptive in a real world setting, but the principles can be carried through whatever the situation is. That is why I have promoted and become one of the first retailers selling this book.

Mike Pat and Sue are also among the authors of several other books in the list such as Evidence Based Patient Handling: Techniques and Equipment. My other recommendations include The Illustrated Guide to Safe Patient Handling and Movement, a USA produced publication from those in the forefront of this subject on the other-side of the pond. Probably the best book to get hold of if you are a consultant in safe patient handling is Manual Handling in Health and Social Care by Michael Mandelstam. This book analyses legal cases in relation to health and social care, many of which are related to moving and handling of people. I have personally used this book in making my own cases.

The shop also contains a small variety of other moving and handling related products, but keep visiting it regularly as more and more product lines will be added.

It’s not all about work though, there is a selection of DRM free music available to download as well from just 69p. You can preview all songs before purchase.
